In some situations, it may be required to capture the desktop of your computer and save it as an image file. For example, you have encountered an error in an application and you want to let its developer know about the error so he can fix it. Or you want to store an important piece of text which is displayed on the screen, but which cannot be saved as a regular text file.

In these cases, using the Windows PrintScreen function may not help, as this feature is limited and it takes a lot of time and effort to actually save the screenshot as an image file. Fortunately, there are certain capturing utilities which can help you create screenshots of your desktop in no time. One of them is ScreenSharp.

This Windows program allows you to capture your desktop in various ways and save the screenshot as a regular image file in seconds. You don't even need to open an image editor for this. After installing and launching the application, it will display a graphical toolbar, from which you can access several capturing modes. As such, ScreenSharp allows capturing the entire desktop, a selected window or a specific area of the screen. When selecting any of these modes, all it takes to capture the screen is a single mouse click. After the desktop has been captured, you can either fine-tune or edit the screenshot or just save it as it is, as a graphical image file.

ScreenSharp supports several graphical formats, like BMP, JPG, PNG and so on. Besides using the graphical toolbar, you can also capture your screen in different modes using shortcut keys. These keys can be modified from the options section of the application.

Pros

It features several modes for capturing the desktop. Besides that, capturing can be performed either using the graphical toolbar or customized shortcut keys. Furthermore, screenshots can be edited after they are captured.

Cons

The number of options for editing a screenshot is a bit limited. Using ScreenSharp, you can easily capture your desktop and save the screenshot as a regular image file.
